Working in the Mass Communications department is something not a lot of people ever thought about doing, but those who worked or are currently working in the department cannot say they regret being a part of the crew. Working in the Mass Communications department is a wonderful experience. You can work in different fields such as broadcast production, public relations, or journalism. Even if you are not fully experienced, you can learn about it and get hands-on experience in each field. And you can also network. Networking is very important, especially in the Mass Communication community. If you meet the right people in the same field as you, maybe even more advanced, you can get the proper connections and work your way up in the industry with what you can do.

My favorite part about working in this department has to be being able to work photography in this department. It’s a very wonderful experience being able to take pictures at events such as sports games, Homecoming events, and much more. When it comes to my photography journey, my favorite event I worked on was Homecoming Week. I had a great time. I worked at the concerts, the step show, and the football game. It was a fun experience. I met helpful alumni that I was able to connect with and got the chance to meet the special guests who showed up for our Homecoming. I definitely plan on working on next year’s Homecoming.
