Bethune-Cookman University Pre-Alumni Council Shines at UNCF Leadership Conference in Memphis
Bethune-Cookman University (BCU) always shows up and shows out, and this time was no different. I had the honor of traveling to Memphis, Tennessee, with nine other students from BCU’s Pre-Alumni Council to attend the UNCF Leadership Conference. This trip was fully covered, and from the moment we landed, we made our presence known.
We got the chance to dive into career and professional development workshops, connect with recruiters at the career fair, and build relationships with other HBCU students from across the country. The energy in every room was electric. We weren’t just there to listen—we engaged, networked, and made the most of every opportunity.
And BCU did not leave empty-handed! Javarus Evans won a $50 gift card, and Dinisvelt Guilloteau, a sophomore international student, walked away with a $1,500 scholarship. As for me, I was beyond grateful to receive a $2,500 scholarship and a 10th-generation iPad. But the biggest win? Our Pre-Alumni Council was named Most Improved PAC—proof that the work we’re doing is making an impact.
This trip was unforgettable. It reinforced why BCU is one of the best HBCUs out there, not just in Daytona Beach but anywhere. We’re not just students. We’re leaders, achievers, and the future.
